The Meriton :: 21-23 May 2019

A Tournament with a Difference

“The Meriton” is confirmed for May 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and will be played at three of Sydney’s finest golf courses.

The team event format is the same as previous years with each team comprising a professional and three amateurs, and the scoring system will be a 4 persons team event with the best two nett and gross scores counting on each hole.

Meriton will be offering everybody a fantastic accommodation deal at any of their Sydney serviced apartments during the week of the tournament.

Continuing with its strong charity theme, the event will conclude with the Gala Charity Dinner, and all money raised being donated to the Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The Professionals will play for $127,500 in prizemoney. There will be $30,000 worth of amateur prizes and trophies on offer over the 3 days, including daily prizes, as well as the 54-hole team winners trophy and prizes for the nett (main event) and scratch.

The Tournament is Unique

The Professionals win prizemoney based on their scratch stableford score, and on the two-ball best-ball nett and scratch scores recorded by their team. What this means is that each Pro will be relying upon their amateur team mates to contribute to his winning money.

Amateurs are going to have a great time. Imagine playing with a Professional event for not one day, but all three days. You will play off the same tees as the pros. You will play a championship course each day, set up for tournament play and you will tee-it-up each day knowing that that you are helping your professional playing partner win prizemoney.

All players will compete on the same course each day with a morning and afternoon shot-gun start each day, and at the end of the second day there will be a seeded draw. The leading professionals and their teams will be seeded to play in the afternoon on Day 3, and the remaining teams and ALPG professionals will play in the morning.

Major Trophies

• 54 scratch stableford tournament for the Professionals
• 54-hole Team Nett Score (based on best two stableford scores each hole)
• 54-hole Team Scratch Score (based on best two scratch scores each hole)
Teams are not eligible to win more than one major prize, but professionals may win prizemoney in more than one event.

Trophies will be presented to the leading 3 teams each day in the Team Nett event, the leading 2 teams in the Team Scratch, along with Nearest to the Pin and Long Drive contests each day. Daily team trophies will also be presented to the best team with a lady amateur (limit on daily trophy for this event), also if the 3 team winners of the Team Nett come from on side of the draw then a Team trophy will be presented to the best score from the other side of the draw.
